Ghost Ant
Ghost Ants Tapinoma melanocephalum are tiny at just 1.5mm and with their near transparent abdomin they can appear even smaller.
Colonies have several queens and new colonies can arise when a queen and some workers decide to move on. If treating a nest with an insecticide spray care must be taken not to break up the colony accidently creating new colonies in the process.
Bait treatments are very effective with Ghost ants as they have a sweet tooth. The bait is taken back to nest and fed to the queens and larvae and workers knocking the nest out from the inside.
